Meditation

Meditation is another yogic practice of calming the mind. One centers herself, allows herself to relax, and clear the mind. The practice of meditation can help one achieve greater attention and awareness, and the settling of one’s emotional life. Brain-imaging technology shows what people who meditate have known for centuries, and that is the brain circuitry associated with love, compassion and peace are all amplified.

Meditation practice can begin with centering the mind with a simple, “Who am I?” This brings your mind to stillness and contemplation. Thoughts come and go.  Allowing them to pass through your mind, as one maintains the meditative state, helps one to become more focused and disciplined, and to achieve specific developmental goals. Breathing techniques are also employed in this practice.

There are other forms of meditation such as a Visualization meditation.  This is a meditation that is narrated and may have music that helps one visualize a goal to be obtained.

There is also Upward meditation. Its aim is to lift consciousness out of the body, an imperfect container for the pure light of consciousness. To reverse the “gravity pull of consciousness” a powerful upward force in the spine, called “Kundalini”, is used. By triggering Kundalini, Samadhi may be attained.  This is an awareness of non-physical reality at the cost of physical consciousness. Ancient yogis sought to attain Samadi.

At IHYT we will individualize a plan for that meets your goals.
